Cycling along the Union Canal path!

The day started at 8:30 a.m. close to Holyrood Park, where we met with Timothée. He is a friend and a sound engineering student from France, who came during Edinburgh's Festivals to work as a volunteer in diverse festival and performances. The idea will be to explore the canal to the West and the Edinburgh connection with Falkirk Wheel.

This canal is 31,5 miles long from Edinburgh to Falkirk, with 65 over bridges, 3 aqueducts, 2 Tunnel, one 180 m long and 630 m long and a 35 m height rotating wheel lift. It's important to remember that the Union Canal was constructed in 1817 as a direct route for the people of Edinburgh to access cheap sources of coal from the West. The canal is now a historical monument and a recreation road where people practice different activities and sports such as kayaking, boating, on small boats called Boathouse.
